ACCREDITATION FACILITATION PROJECT
National Accreditation
In 1985, NAEYC established a national, voluntary accreditation system to set professional standards for early childhood education programs, and to help families identify high-quality programs. NAEYC Accreditation is a system by which programs measure themselves against a national set of standards. The number of programs pursuing NAEYC Accreditation has grown rapidly through the years – there are now nearly 11,000 programs that have achieved NAEYC Accreditation. Within the past three years, the Accreditation standards have been revised to meet the growing demand and remain consistent with best practices.
Much information is available on the NAEYC accreditation website, including information about the 10 Early Childhood Standards, information about the staff qualifications and the location of Nebraska’s accredited centers.
